James "Jim" Jon Cook, age 86, of Manistique, Michigan, passed away on February 28, 2026, in Manistique.

James was born on September 23, 1939, in Manistique, Michigan, the son of James Andrew Cook and Barbara Ann (Smith) Cook. He spent the greater part of his life in Manistique. After high school, Jim went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army.

On June 15, 1963, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Taylor at St. Francis De Sales in Manistique, and together they had 2 children and shared many beautiful years of marriage.

He was a longtime member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. He was actively involved in his community, including helping to start the Manistique Federal Credit Union as one of the founders, and served as an auditor for 56 years.

In his spare time, Jim enjoyed playing guitar, camping with his travel trailer, square dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth of Manistique; his sons, Timothy (Kristine) Cook of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Anthony (Karen) Cook of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Amy, Matthew, and Rachel Cook; and his brother, Joel (Christie) Cook of Fennville, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Joan Tola and Joyce Russell.
