James Randall "Jim" Corder

James R. "Jim" Corder, 79, of Lafayette, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette.
He was born May 25, 1946, in Slavans, KY to the late James Garfield and Adina (Coffey) Corder. He was a graduate of Remington High School and continued his education at the University of La Verne, La Verne, CA. Jim married Catherine Farrugia in Valletta, Malta in 1969. Jim served honorably in the United States Navy for 28 years, retiring as a Master Chief/E-9 Aviation Machinist Mate. During his enlistment, Jim was deployed to Vietnam during the war. Following his retirement, Jim worked at ALCOA.
He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Jim loved vintage muscle cars, especially Mustangs and Challengers and was a collector of 1/16 scale toy tractors. He also enjoyed spending time at the shooting range. Jim and Catherine loved to travel and see the world, they enjoyed seeing all 50 states as well as many countries. Above all, Jim cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandsons.
Along with his wife, Catherine Corder, he is survived by his 2 children, Gail Corder of Pilot Point, TX and James (Angelina) Corder of Lafayette; 2 grandsons, James Gavin Corder and Hayden Colin Corder; 3 sisters, Viola Cook of Oklahoma, Eilene (Gordon) Norman of Lafayette, Irma Jean Koch of West Point; and brother, George Leon (Patricia) Corder of Eureka, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Garfield and Adina Corder; a sister, Maralee Brashears; and 2 brothers-in-law, Gary Kock and J.E. Robert Cook.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm (noon), Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Interment will follow at Meadow View Cemetery, 3733 Poland Hill Rd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
