He loved coaching for Arapahoe Little League in the 1970’s, watching his son and later grandsons play baseball, attending almost every playoff game of Westside High School in Houston, Texas in 2008. He was a life long Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan, enjoying his yearly trips to New York with his son to see his beloved Yankees play in person. The year of his 80th birthday, he achieved a lifelong dream of playing golf in Scotland with his son. He loved old time country music, and played both the guitar and banjo.
