James Edward (Jimmy) Cox 64, of Oliver Springs (formerly of Coalfield) passed away on Saturday March 8,2025 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Jim was born 03/26/1960 and was raised in Coalfield where he attended school and was a 1978 graduate. He served 4 years in the US Navy during the Gulf War. He was also a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Coalfield.
Jim was a wonderful loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and friend to many. He enjoyed fishing, martial arts and was an avid reader.
Preceded in death by his parents James Franklin and Elizabeth (Darnell) Cox
Mother-in-law Betty Edwards Pace
Brother-in-law Kenny Long.
Survived by his wife of 21 years Patricia (Morrison) Cox
Sons William Franklin Cox and Gary Gordon, Jr
Brother Tommy (Missy) Cox
Sisters Ellen (Ronnie) Whitehouse and Susan Long.
Nieces Jessica (Josh) Nealy, Abby (James) Russell. Toni Hoskins, Malori Morrison, Cindi (Eric) Henry, Mindy Solmo, Stacy Solmo, Kim Barns, Heather Morrison.
Nephews Daniel Cox, Jimmy Whitehouse, Robert Whitehouse, Scott Morrison, Jay Morrison. 14 Great Nephews and 15 Great Nieces, and 1 Great/great Niece
Brother-in-law Allen Morrison, sister-in-law Vicky Morrison Solmo, along with other family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Howard and Gerri Gaylon and the staff of Covenant Palliative and Hospice Care.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service may be planned at a later date.
