James Edward Coy JR

James Edward Coy Jr., a beloved family man and jovial friend to many, passed away on October 7, 2025, in Helena, Oklahoma. Born on March 9, 1970, in Gallatin, Missouri, to James Coy Sr. and Judy (Osborn) Coy, James was known for his humor and lighthearted spirit, which he graciously shared with everyone around him.

James had a diverse career, holding numerous jobs throughout his life, demonstrating an adaptability and eagerness to contribute wherever he could. His enthusiasm was matched by his dedication to service, as he honorably served in the Navy from 1989 until his discharge in 1992.

Beyond his professional endeavors, James was a man of varied interests. He had a passion for guns, both in collecting and shooting, which brought him joy and excitement. He was an avid lover of movies and video games, often finding solace and entertainment in these pursuits. One of his most cherished roles was that of a grandfather, lovingly referred to as "poppy." Every Friday, he looked forward to spending quality time with his granddaughter.

James also had a passion for cooking, with a particular fondness for grilling, where he often delighted family and friends with his culinary creations.

He is survived by his parents, James Coy Sr. and Judy Coy; his siblings, Rebecca Mohan, Bill Schlup, and Kristina Blaylock; his children, Misty Coy, Harley Jones, and Shayla Coy; and his cherished grandchildren, Carter Coy, Autumn Coy, Ariah Roberts, and Abryella Kennedy.

James is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald LeRoy Schlup. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, a testament to the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.

A come and go gathering to celebrate James will take place at his residence in Helena on Tuesday October 14, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
