James Allen Crawford, 95, husband of Jean Crawford, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Baptist Health, Lexington. He was born February 5, 1930, in Mason City, Iowa to the late George Dewey and Marian Strumpher Crawford. He was a graduate of the University of Southern California and spent many years working as an auditor for the IRS. He was a long-time member of St. Leo Catholic Church, where he served the Church in many ways including being on the Original School Board, serving on the Parrish Counsel, and was instrumental in starting the St. Leo Festival.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Jimmy Crawford and John Crawford.
James will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Jean Spalding Crawford, children, Thomas (Elaine) Crawford, Ellen Crawford, Michelle Crawford, Mark (Jill) Crawford, all from Versailles, daughters-in-law, Bennett Crawford, Estero, FL, Brenna Crawford, Versailles, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 5 at St. Leo Catholic Church with Father Danny Schwendeman. Burial will follow at Rose Crest Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Leo Catholic Church, Capital Campaign, 295 Huntertown Road, Versailles, Ky 40383. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and leave messages of condolence on James's tribute wall at www.BlackburnandWard.com.
