CUMBERLAND James J. Cribbin Jr, 90, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024 unexpectedly at home. He was the beloved husband of Carol E. (Bouliane) Cribbin and they had been happily married for the past 66 years.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late James J. and Stella (Krenta) Cribbin Sr. He resided in Cumberland since 1963, previously in New Jersey.
James entered the United States Army, Serving during the Korean War, and after his honorable and faithful service to our country he was honorably discharged.
He received his Masters Degree from Bryant University with honors and he was 2nd in his graduating class. Jim earned his CPA shortly after and was employed by the former United East for many years until his retirement.
Jim as he was affectionately known, was a communicant of St. Aidan/St. Patrick Parish. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, was a civil war enthusiast, listen to talk radio, and reading the newspaper but most of all loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son, Drew J. Cribbin and his wife Elizabeth of Cumberland; his granddaughter Alexandra Gallogly and her husband Michael of North Attleboro; his great-grandchildren, Camden and Jack; his two sisters, Margaret Sweeney and Ruby Cribbin, both of New Jersey. He was the brother of the late John Cribbin and Patricia Martini.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Jim's Life Celebration to be held with Visiting Hours on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM and continue on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 9 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Cumberland Animal Shelter, 25 Wellington Road, Lincoln, RI 02865.
