In Loving Memory of James Crunkilton
James "Jim" Crunkilton age 89, of Port Orange, Florida went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2022.
Jim was born in Washington, DC on May 22, 1933, to the late Joseph and Margaret Crunkilton. Jim is survived by Wilma, his wife of 64 years, his son John, his daughter Debbie, and his grandchildren, Ty, Jamee, Jill, Mark, and Rose (great-grandchild), his bothers Joseph and Richard, his sisters, Dottie and Peggy, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
After graduating Washington-Lee high school in Arlington, Virginia where he held the school record for the 60-yard dash for over 9 years, Jim enlisted in the Navy where he served in submarines as a sonar technician. He graduated from Virginia Tech Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1960 and continued in service to his country as a civil servant with the Defense Fuel Supply Center, a component of the Defense Logistics Agency for 28 years.
One of Jim's passions was bowling. He was an accomplished bowler at an early age and won the American Jr. Bowling Congress Team Champion in 1951 and the National Individual Champion in 1952. Jim continued his bowling pursuits in a work league and won numerous team championships as the Captain of the Defense Fuel Supply Center "Oilers".
Upon retirement, Jim and Wilma moved to Port Orange Florida and settled near Jim's brothers. Jim enjoyed bowling, traveling, dining out, and being with family. Jim looked forward to the weekly "Thursday night dinner" tradition where the three bothers and other family members gathered for food, fellowship, and fun.
A private family funeral is scheduled for December 30, 2022, at 11:00 am. Flowers can be sent to Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, New Symrna Beach Florida.
