With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James "Jimmy" Howard Cureton, who left us peacefully on December 30, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on June 2, 1946, in Bossier City, Louisiana, Jimmy was a Westlake High School and McNeese State University graduate.
Jimmy was an honorably discharged veteran in the United States Army serving 6 years.
Jimmy spent his life dedicated to his work in the sheet metal fabrication industry, where he proudly owned and operated Custom Metal Fabricators. Jimmy was not only a businessman but thoroughly enjoyed his role and friendships he built within the community.
Jimmy enjoyed spending time at his deer lease with his friends and family and cooking around the campfire. His greatest passion was hunting, fishing and tinkering with antique cars.
He leaves behind his wife, Leah Cureton, son, Blake Cureton (Samantha), Daughter, Blaire Cureton, sister, Christi Cureton Domingue (Joseph), brother, Phillip Cureton (Linda), Grandchildren, Cardyn and Carson Cureton, along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family who will forever cherish his memory and the countless lessons he imparted. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jimmy’s life and legacy. A public viewing will take place on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. Following the viewing, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Highland Memory Garden Cemetery.
