James "JD" Curtis 92 of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025. He was a proud veteran of the US Army served with distinction with the 71st Triple Air Defense Artillery Regiment.

Curtis was born June 25, 1933 in McKinney Texas Curtis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather great-great grandfather and friend to many.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Vera Angel Curtis and George Curtis; wife, Peggy Curtis; son, Thomas Curtis and son Leonard (Chuck) Bedingfield; and grandson, Christopher Osebold. Curtis leaves behind daughter Diana McCoy (husband Carl), their six children, 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; daughter in law, Cathy Curtis, son, James "Jimmy" Curtis (wife Kathy) their five children, twelve grandchildren, and one great grandchild; daughter, Nancy Eckhardt (husband Tim); daughter, Elaine Hill (husband Mike) her two daughters, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild; daughter, Lynn Osebold, her two sons, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; daughter in law, Tina Bedingfield, her four children, eleven grandchildren; daughter, Monica Kimbler (husband James).

Curtis also leaves behind his beloved animals, cats, Buddy, Peanut and Jamie; dogs, Alfie and Simba; and two grand dogs, Chubbs and Darlie

Curtis attended Waco High School. After high school he married first wife Bettye June Crook had daughter Diana after they divorced, he married second wife, Marjorie Stewart, they had three children, Thomas, James and Nancy. After the death of Marjorie, he married Peggy Bedingfield, where he gained four children, Elaine, Lynn, Chuck and Monica.

Curtis worked with MARTA in Atlanta for 33 years as a driver then a route scheduler. After his time with MARTA he then worked with DART in Dallas TX for 10 years as a scheduler for buses and trains.

The graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of James Curtis will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Oxford Historical Cemetery in Oxford, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA from 11:00am until 1:00pm.
