James P. Dabbelt, 79, of Amelia, Ohio, quietly passed away on January 9, 2024.
Jim is survived by his wife Pamela (Gaines) of 44 years, daughters Jennifer Dabbelt, Kristine (Jeff) Montague & Becca (Nathan) Smith, and grandchildren Mackenzie, Mason, Jacob, Liam, Charlotte, Nora and Henry. He was preceded in death by his sister MaryLou Mitchell.
Jim grew up on a farm outside of St. Mary's, Ohio. He went to Ohio Northern University from 1964-1968, where he played basketball in addition to studying education. Jim went on to receive a Masters degree from Ball State University. Jim worked as a health, physical education and drivers education teacher from 1968-1973, and then went on to work as a sales representative in the bedding industry for over 40 years for Bassett, Sealy and Serta.
Jim loved all sports! He was an avid fan of local Cincinnati professional teams, supporting the Reds and Bengals as a season ticket-holder for decades. He passed that love of sports on to his daughters by coaching their teams as they grew up and taking them along to professional games. Jim spent his free time watching various sports, reading historical books and spending time with his girls.
A special thank you to the people at Hospice of Cincinnati (Anderson location) for their loving care and support during his final days.
The family will be holding a private graveside service at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and/or Hospice of Cincinnati.

Pam and family- we are sad to hear of Jim´s passing. Walking the dogs is how we got to meet him. He will always be remembered by him telling me how tall he was! Sending our sympathy.
