James often spoke of the wonderful childhood he had growing up in Thurmont. As a teenager he was one of the projectionists at the Thurmont State Movie Theatre, a job he loved and at an early age, James discovered drums and spent many hours playing them. He was proud to have been chosen to be a member of the US Army Band. He served during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa for 2 of the 3 1/2 years he served. After an honorable discharge in 1952, James returned to Thurmont and 2 years later, married the love of his life, Doris Whipp. They were married in June of 1954 and built a house in Thurmont in 1955, where they raised 4 children. James was employed by Moore Business Forms for 37 years. James is survived by 3 children, Debbie Burrier (Barry), Jana Biser (Paul) and Sharon Baker (Bobby). James also had two great grandchildren; Colton Atwell and Riggs Baker and Son-in-law Larry Forney. James was an avid reader in his younger years and loved taking long walks after retirement around Thurmont where he enjoyed talking to old friends and acquaintances he would see. Besides playing the drums, James loved all genres of music. Very much a family man, James was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He always took time for his children.
