James Cleveland "Flipper" Dauphin, born on February 29, 1952, in Dunedin, Florida, passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72 in New Port Richey, Florida. James, affectionately known as Flipper, was a dedicated family man who married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Dauphin. Together, they raised four daughters: Michelle, Katrina, Kimberly, and Tiffany.
James attended Gulf High School and remained a resident of his beloved Florida for most of his life.
Growing up in the Tampa Bay area, James worked in his father's Terrazzo flooring business before spending many years in drywall construction. His life was marked by a passion for NASCAR racing, particularly his admiration for Dale Earnhardt, and his involvement in the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3153, where he served as a proud member, former president, and trustee.
James was a man of few words, but his golden personality and huge heart spoke volumes. His hobbies included fishing and following NASCAR events, which were a significant part of his leisure time.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Bentley) Dauphin; father, Grover Dauphin; mother, Rose MacKinnon; daughters, Michelle Dauphin & David, Katrina Atkinson & Rick, and Tiffany Dauphin & Ray; and siblings, Virginia Dauphin, Teresa Hebbring, Deborah Ryan, and Michael Dauphin.
11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
Services to honor James's life are being handled by Dobies Funeral Home, located at 6616 Congress Street, New Port Richey, Florida. The viewing schedule is as follows: Saturday, August 3rd from 10-11 AM for family and 11 AM-12 PM for friends. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Sunday August 4th, with a family viewing from 12-1 PM and the service from 1-2 PM. Burial will follow at Meadow Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, Florida. A celebration of life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3153 at 5446 Leisure Lane, New Port Richey, Florida.
