Rebecca J. Dauphin, 68, of Savanna, IL passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025 at home in the loving care of her family and Genesis Hospice.

Born on August 5th, 1957, in Savanna, IL to Barbara (Frank) and Julius Dauphin. Rebecca was the youngest of 5, earning her place as the baby of the family.

Early years were spent helping on the family farm and debating with her older siblings. Being elected Class President, organizational skills were her strong suit. Known as "the whip" to her classmates. She wrote in her yearbook, "I am not arguing with you. I am telling you."

Rebecca graduated from Mt. Carroll High School in 1975. From there, she attended Western Illinois University earning her degree in Political Science in 1978, with minors in English and History. She went to the University of Oklahoma before transferring and obtaining her Law Degree in 1981 from South Dakota State. She worked at the Illinois State Attorney General Office, before returning to help manage the family farm. The farm was always her home.

Rebecca was always well informed and happy to have a good political debate with anyone. Memories were made around the kitchen table, discussing politics and sports. She had a witty sense of humor.

An incredible baker, she was well known for her caramels, fudge and cookies at Christmastime. She learned her skills from her mother, Barbara. Together, they made a cookbook of all the family favorites. Complete with memories and notes with each recipe.

As a voracious reader, Rebecca was always seen with a book nearby. She could finish a good book in one sitting. Over the years, she became an incredible knitter. Everyone was gifted with sweaters, scarves, and other beautiful masterpieces. There was always a cat (or two) on her lap, snuggling during her reading or knitting time.

Gardening was a passion in the summertime. Between her flower and vegetable gardens, she had plenty to keep her busy. It wasn't unusual to see her wandering around the farm between the gardens, chicken coop and playing with the dogs.

Over the years, some of Rebecca's fondest memories were made travelling with her sister, Deborah, and their mother. She loved the history of the locations. New Orleans, San Antonio, San Francisco, Dauphin Island, lighthouses, cruises and so many more incredible locations. There was lots of laughter on these trips!

Rebecca was proceeded in death by both parents: Julius and Barbara Dauphin; siblings Robert Dauphin and Blanche Dauphin. She is survived by her sister; Deborah Franks of Birchwood, WI and brother; Jule (Joni) Dauphin of Mt Carroll, IL; nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/great-nephews.

A visitation will be held 11am – 1pm, Friday, October 31, 2025 at Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, followed by a private burial service at Daggert Cemetery, Mt. Carroll.
