Patti S. VanGetson

Patti S. VanGetson, 62 of Aledo, died peacefully at home, surrounded by her families love on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 5:30 PM at Speer Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to services from 3 to 5 PM. Private family burial will be at Candor Cemetery, Seaton, Illinois. 

Patti Sue Tracy was born on June 16, 1963, to Norman & Cherie Ann (Brown) Tracy. She was a 1981 graduate of Aledo High School. Patti attended both WIC and Western Illinois University. She was previously married to Karl Hanson. On June 23, 2016, Patti married Vince VanGetson in Aledo.

Patti loved her job at WRMJ, where she could write Ad Copy and had the perfect voice for radio. She centered her life with music, both at work and home, loving to sing or just go for a moseying drive in the country to listen to music. Her life was also centered on her faith. She enjoyed helping at Trinity Presbyterian Church Vacation Bible School, the afterschool program and writing the Church’s newsletter. She was proud of the Simple Comfort Cottage Air B&B she created with Vince.

Patti was a researcher, especially in history. She loved to find off the beaten path vacations for her family and looking up local history. Patti was especially proud of her home and the history she dug up on the underground railroad. She taught her children to be inquisitive, to be well rounded, especially in music, to be compassionate, a good listener and especially to be thrifty. She cherished the time she spent with her family and the special visits with her best friend, Cindy.

Those left to cherish Patti’s memory include her husband, Vince; children: Carli (Bob) Robison of Washington, IA; Jesse (Alyssa) Hanson of Danville, IA; Noah (Jenna Bushong) Hanson of Little York, IL; Siblings, Kim (Kim) Tracy of East Moline; Lori (Rick) Boruff of Monmouth; and grandchildren: Jonah, Oliver, Isabelle & Elodie Robison, Barrett Hanson, Sawyer & Cyrus Hanson and one lovingly expected. Patti was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Barrie Sue Hanson and brother, Barry Gene Tracy.
