Smith Family Funeral Homes - North Little RockJim Davenport, 92, passed peacefully after a long, full, and well-lived life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian; his brothers, Grover and Harold; his granddaughter, Casey; and his great-granddaughter, Maddison. Though he has reunited with many cherished loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and quiet wisdom that will continue to guide those who knew him.
Jim is survived by his sister, George Ann; his children, Mark and Dee; his grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica, Cattie, and Dakota; his great-grandchildren, Hunter and William; and many extended family members and friends who were deeply touched by his presence.
Jim proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force, carrying that sense of dedication and discipline throughout his life. After his military service, he built a long and respected career with the City of North Little Rock Electric Department. Even after retiring, Jim never truly stopped—he continued to lend his electrical expertise to others and found great joy in woodworking, crafting wood and moments alike with steady hands and a generous spirit.
He loved music, dogs, reading, and above all, time spent with his grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and happiness. Jim’s lighthearted humor, generous spirit, and unwavering work ethic made him someone people naturally gravitated toward.
Though he has left this world, the imprint of his kindness, craftsmanship, and love will remain in the lives he touched and the stories carried forward by those who knew him. Jim’s life was a testament to service, family, and simple joys—an example of a life well lived and well loved.
May his memory continue to light the way for all who cherished him.
