James Steven "Jim" Deavers

James Steven "Jim" Deavers, 68, of Grand Island, NE, died Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Funeral service will be Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Curran Funeral Chapel. Pastor Dean Amen will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to the time of the service. Interment will be in the Bellwood Cemetery, Bellwood, NE, with a 2 p.m. committal service. Military honors will be rendered by the Bellwood American Legion Post 327 and the U.S. Navy Honor Team. Jim was born February 18, 1957 at David City, NE, the son of Eugene and Leora M. (Weyand) Deavers. Jim grew up in David City, NE, graduating from high school in 1975. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from December of 1975 until his honorable discharge in November 1979. He continued his education at Wayne State College graduating with a Business Administration degree in 1986. For the past 26 years Jim was a Freight Transportation Specialist for G.I. Express in Grand Island.

Jim was an avid sports fan especially following the Las Vegas Raiders and anything NASCAR.

Jim is survived by his brothers, Pat and Scot Deavers; sisters and their families, Janice (Bubba) Holland, Peg (Tony) Schultz, Cheryl Lieberman, Judy Deavers; sister-in-law, Maxine Rybak; and numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Deavers; sister, Beth Deavers; nephews, Ryan Deavers, Trenton Deavers, Dustin Mulenex, Matthew Schultz; grandnephew, Charlie Torrez.
