James "Jim" W. Dennis passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Homestead assisted-living center in Rexburg, Idaho. Jim was born October 28, 1937 in Bakersfield, California to John A. Dennis Jr. and Evelyn Hoaglund Dennis.

Jim grew up in Bakersfield with his brothers, John and Bill and sister Marji. After he graduated high school, he entered the Air Force. While on leave to attend his brother John's wedding, he met the friend of John's wife, Loretta Briggs.

Jim returned to his military assignment in Germany and he corresponded with Loretta. He invited her to come to Germany and they were married June 8, 1959. Later they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS temple July 1961.

Jim and Loretta were blessed with two daughters- Jackie and Luana. Jim's work in the Air Force took the family from Germany to Texas, back to Germany, to Maryland, Jim to Vietnam, the family back to Germany and finally to Maryland where Jim retired in October 1976.
The family moved to Rexburg, Idaho since Loretta's family was from there. Jim worked as a custodian for Ricks College and retired from that position in July 1995. He also worked for Walmart for a brief time.

Jim held callings in the LDS church and was many times a clerk for the branches and wards where he lived.

Jim had many hobbies and interests, principle of which, was crocheting and he made many afghans as gifts for family and friends. Jim also was very talented in doing flower arrangements and earned an associates degree from Ricks college in this skill.

Jim was proceed in death by his parents, brother John, niece Gail, and wife Loretta.

Jim is survived by his daughters Jackie (David) Klingler of Rexburg, Luana (Larry) Stewart of St. Anthony, grandson Jake (Jess) Klingler, granddaughter Jerrica Klingler, great-grandsons Blaine and Colter Klingler all of Rexburg, brother William (Ellen) Dennis of Smithfield, Utah, sister Marji Turner of Wilmington, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews across the country!

The family would like to thank the staff of the Homestead and Jim's hospice caregivers for their service and friendship to Jim!

A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Flamm Funeral home in Rexburg. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM with a 10:00 AM viewing prior at Flamm Funeral home Rexburg.
