James "Jamie D" Kennith Denson
James "Jamie D" Kennith Denson was born March 12, 1941, to Josephine (James) and Glen Denson in Purdy, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on April 3, 2025, at the age of 84 following a fast and strong battle with cancer.
Jamie was a graduate of Lindsay High School. Upon graduation, he attended East Central University, earning his degree in Mathematics. A short time later, Jamie was recruited by and went to work for the United States Aeronautical Space Center located at St Louis, Missouri. Jamie was heavily involved with the Apollo lunar moon landings from 1969 to 1972. Jamie was part of a specialized team with the responsibility to map lunar landing sites to ensure Apollo space craft had suitable lunar landscapes to land safely.
Shortly after beginning his career with the Aeronautical Space Center, Jamie was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Jamie successfully completed basic training and was sent to Advanced Individual Training to learn his specific military occupation. Because Jamie held a top-secret clearance with the Aeronautical Space Center, Army Command made the decision to assign Jamie to the Army National Guard. This decision allowed Jamie to return to the Aeronautical Space Center full-time to work on Apollo lunar missions. Jamie was very proud to serve his country in both the Army National Guard and the United States Aeronautical Space Center.
After being honorably discharged from the Army National Guard, Jamie left his career with the Aeronautical Space Center to begin a lifelong career as an entrepreneur. Jamie was a very skilled carpet installer and had a thriving carpet business for decades. Jamie was a successful real estate investor, a commercial metal buildings contractor, and established "Jamie D" brand beef jerky establishments throughout Oklahoma and Branson Missouri.
Jamie enjoyed watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, all college basketball as well as OU football. He also loved hunting, fishing and talking a little "Mickey Mouse" with his friends.
Jamie was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation and the Chickasaw Nation Warrior Society.
Jamie was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Glen, Jr., sisters Sharon and JoAnn and son-in-law, Broderick Stearns.
Survivors include his daughters Keri Capraro, and husband Shannon, Ardmore, OK; Amie Stearns, Ardmore; nephews Mike Ward, and wife Kerri, Edmond, OK; Mark Ward, Oklahoma City; Chris Ward, Dallas, TX; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also, numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Integris Health Hospice House, 13920 Quailbrook Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
