James D. “Jimmy” Dickens of Cuba, Missouri was born on August 17, 1942, in St. James, Missouri to Garrett and Edna (Ragan) Dickens. He left this life on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri at the age of 82.
Jimmy was united in marriage to Sharon Faulkner on August 16, 1975.
Jimmy worked as a mechanic at Switzer in Rolla for several years and later for Interstate Regional Stockyards in Cuba. He was a longtime faithful member of Covenant Praise Church of God. He enjoyed being involved at church, working his cattle, coon hunting, gardening, fishing and exploring the countryside. His smile, laugh and quick wit will never be forgotten.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents Garrett “G.C.” and Edna (Ragan) Dickens; wife Sharon (Faulkner) Dickens; one son James D. Dickens, Jr.; two brothers Carl and wife Shirley Dickens, Louie Dickens; five sisters Ruby and husband Floyd Williams, Helen and husband Cecil Brown, Mable and husband Edwin kitchen, Lucille Campbell and Ruth Ann Dickens.
Those who are left to treasure his memory are his daughter Christie and husband Steve McKenna of Hillsboro; three grandchildren Daniel and wife Heather Williams of Cuba, Lance and wife Abby Williams of Cuba, Jenna McKenna of Hillsboro; six great-grandchildren Brendon, Kye, River, Paulie, Allie and Benny; two brothers Paul and wife Geraldine Dickens, Leon and wife Donna Dickens all of Cuba; brother-in-law, Gary Campbell of Cuba; lifelong special friend Doris Monda of Cuba; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. at Covenant Praise Church of God 309 N. Mapleshade Road, Cuba, Missouri.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, 6:00 p.m. at Covenant Praise Church of God with Pastor Jeremiah Wilson, officiating.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Fairclough Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
If desired, memorials would be appreciated to Covenant Praise Church of God 309 N. Mapleshade Road, Cuba, Missouri 65453.
