James Diestler

James M. Diestler, of Antigo, died on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Marshfield Medical Center. He was 79 years old. He was born on December 31, 1945 in Shawano, a son of Arthur and Agnes (Brunner) Diestler. He married Sharon Fleischman on September 24, 1966 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Wittenberg.
He was a graduate of Wittenberg High School. Jim was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Army. Jim was employed at MultiStates Utility Service Company, La Crosse Telephone, Jim Lund Transport, Plaspack, and retired from Ted Baginski and Son Farms.
He was a member of the Leland Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2653 having served as commander.
Jim loved to fish and hunt, especially with his family. He enjoyed spending time at the property in Skanee, Michigan.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sharon; a daughter, Tammy (Greg) Leavitt of Stevens Point; son, Jamie Diestler of Antigo; four grandchildren, Megan Romportl, Jordan Diestler, David Marten, and Ryan (Kaylee) Resch; great-grandchildren, Braylon and Braxton Romportl and Cameron James Resch; a sister, Rosalie Hagen of Marathon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Diestler and Douglas Diestler; and a sister in infancy, Cynthia Diestler.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. At 11 a.m. there will be a time of sharing followed by a procession to the Aniwa Union Cemetery for burial and Military Honors.
