James M. Dixon, age 81, of East Branch Road, Miller Township, Huntingdon, PA, passed peacefully at his residence on July 24, 2024. Born on September 4, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Jack M. Dixon and F. Carolyn (Jackson) Dixon.
Jim spent most of his life in Huntingdon County, graduating from Huntingdon Area High School in the Class of 1960. On September 28, 1960, he married Joanne (Border) Dixon, with whom he shared a loving and devoted marriage until her passing in October 2017. Jim and Joanne made their home in Jackson's Corner, where they built a life filled with love and community.
Jim retired from PENNDOT after 33 years of service in 2000.
Hunting and fishing were lifelong passions; he enjoyed fishing the Juniata River and Lake Raystown. He was an avid hunter and cherished sharing time and stories with others at camp. Jim enjoyed a variety of hobbies, most of which took place in his garage. He took pride in making improvements to his property and those of friends and family with his trusty Kubota. He was a fan of NASCAR, PSU football, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers.
Jim is survived by his two children: James "Rock" Dixon (Diane) of Jackson's Corner, and Lisa (Dixon) Barkman (Charlie) of Huntingdon. He was fondly known as "Pap" to his grandchildren: Zachary Dixon of Raleigh, NC; Tori Hager (Nick) of Huntingdon; Bethany Pierotti (Jason) of Huntingdon; Clay Barkman of State College; and Jenna Corcelius (Justin Dearmitt) of Chicora, PA. Jim was also blessed with four great-grandchildren Bo, Walker, Liam, and Stella. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Jim's family and friends will always remember him for his warm heart, engaging stories, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 29, 2024, and from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the John B.
