James (Jimmy) Doherty, Jr. peacefully went home to be with the Lord on July 20,2025. with his loving wife and two sons by his side.

He was born on June 5, 1945 in Winchester, MA. He was raised on his family’s dairy farm in Woburn, MA.

As a young man he proudly and dutifully served his country in the Vietnam War, US Army Spec 5 1966-1968, stationed in Chulie ....which haunted him the rest of his life.

After marrying Elaine in 1975, they moved to Derry, NH, where they lived for the next 43 years on his little gentleman farm, lovingly caring for all his animals.

He worked at the USPS , Manchester, NH, as a vehicle mechanic for over 25 years.

After retirement he and Elaine bought a camper and spent the next 18 years at Ammonoosuc Campground, Twin Mountain NH, enjoying new friendships and camp fires.

Jimmy loved hunting, fishing, camping, traveling (especially to Ireland), gardening, woodworking and trains and was a collector of many things (just check out our garage)

In 2020 he and Elaine moved to a retirement community which he loved, especially the Mountain View’s, new friendships, and sunsets every evening.

He was an active member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Londonderry and the Senior Saints where he worshipped and served the Lord for many years. After his move further north he attended and became a member of Hill Village Bible Church.

Jimmy was a loving and devoted husband of 50 years to Elaine (Munnis), very proud father to two wonderful sons, James P. Doherty lll and his wife Jennifer (Pearson) Doherty, and Daniel G. Doherty and his fiancée Corinne Robertson, and proud Grumpy to two grandchildren who brought light and laughter to his life, James P Doherty lV (Jayson) and Charlena Doherty. (Charley), his brother and sister in-law, Bob and Barbara Hargraves, and many nieces & nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his mother, Celeste Doherty, and his father, James P Doherty Sr..

He is home at last in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, at Hill Village Bible Church, 36 Crescent St., Hill, NH.

Visitation hours from 1pm-2pm, with the Celebration of Life starting at 2:00 pm.

A mercy meal will follow at the Mountainview Estates Community Building, Franklin, NH at 3:30 pm.

A private burial at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen will occur at a later date.

In Lieu of Flowers, Donations can be made to Hill Village Bible Church, 36 Crescent St, Hill NH add in Memory of James Doherty.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
