Dolder, James Joseph
SCHODACK - James Joseph Dolder, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 21, 2024. James was born in Albany, N.Y., on December 1, 1949, and grew up in East Greenbush, N.Y. He was the son of the late William Jacob Dolder Sr. and Jean Assunta Mary (Guilianelli) Dolder. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Josephine (Damalcago) Dolder; devoted father to his children, Jason Matthew Dolder, Linda Marie Dolder, and Jillian Lynn (Dolder) Baird; and sister, Mary Ann (Dolder) Meleco (Michael). He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Linda Dow, Barbara Kapusnik, and Cynthia Johnsen; loving cousin, Gloria Kieber; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his oldest brother, William Jacob Dolder Jr.
As a child, he was a member of the 4-H Club where he enjoyed caring for animals. James was a Vietnam Veteran, he served with the United States Army. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He was stationed in Hamburg, Germany, as an armory crewman. James worked for the Watervliet Arsenal for 38 years as an Industrial Waste Treatment Plant Operator. He served as the former Vice President of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter eight of the Capital District, for many years, where he enjoyed organizing events to support Veterans in need.
He was a lover of all music. James enjoyed playing guitar and performing at local open mic nights. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Chevrolet, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Stewart's Shops, fishing, and hunting. James' family would like to thank everyone at the VA Hospital, Albany Medical Center, and Riverside Rehabilitation Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit, 10-11 a.m., with services to follow at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 29, 2024, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, N.Y. 12205. Following the service, the interment will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Josie, Linda, and Jillian. So sorry for your loss. I did not get to spend much time with my brother-in-law Jim since I live on the west coast. However when we did get to spend time together I enjoyed the conversations we had about our army experiences that we shared from the same era. Happy Trails my fellow vet.
