James P. Donahue, 76, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Barbara Donahue (Ryan). Loving father of Kevin (Peggy), Tim (Erin), Shannon, Patsy (Tom), and Marty. Proud “Peepa” to Alicia, Gavin, Liam, Kayleigh, Moira, Wesley, Declan, Catie, Maeve, Róisín, and cherished great-grandfather to Carter. Dear brother to the late Tom Donahue (Tina), Mary Donahue, Jack (Patti) Donahue, Sheila (Mike) Grogan, Pat (Nancy) Donahue, and proud uncle to many.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Donahue; his father, John Donahue; his brother, Tom Donahue; and his nephew Tommy Donahue.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and went on to work as a pipefitter for more than 40 years. Jim was a hard worker, a devoted family man, and a friend to all. He would have given the shirt off his own back to help anyone in need, and he lived his life with generosity, loyalty, and love.
He treasured time at the family cottage in Michigan, but his true happy place was in Florida with his Lexington friends, where he loved the warm weather and where his face lit up with joy.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in New Lenox from 3:00–8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, September 23, at 11:30 AM at St. Jude Church.
