James Danny "Grump" Drinnon, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Danny was saved at a young age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of Gills Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and bowling. He was the bowling coach at Cherokee High School for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kester "Jack" and Susie Drinnon; brothers, Clay Drinnon, Johnny Drinnon, Paul "Tootie" Drinnon, and Jackie Drinnon.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Goldie Drinnon; sons, Jimmy (Barbara) Drinnon and Robby (Debbie) Drinnon; grandchildren, Kayla Campbell, Chris Drinnon, Jennifer (Cody) Kinsler, and Daniel (Breianna) Drinnon; great-grandchildren, Brody and Elaina Scalf, Kinsley and Oakleigh Campbell, Julie Ann, Averee Lynn, and Lainey Kinsler, and Arya Brothers; siblings, Billy (Boneda) Drinnon and Joyce (Henry) Price; several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 18 from 5-7pm at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral ceremony will begin at 7pm with Pastor Robby Drinnon, Pastor Jerod Harrell, Pastor Jeremy Elkins, and Bro. Heath Elkins officiating. Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 19 at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. If you wish to follow in procession, please meet at the funeral home by 10:15am.
