James "BJ" Duquette, 75

James "BJ" Duquette died March 12, 2026. He was born on September 5, 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Duquette served in the Vietnam War. He retired from Glades Gas. A resident of Okeechobee for more that 30 years, he was a member of the VFW, Eagles, Moose Lodge, and American Legion. He enjoyed airboats, Bingo, Karaoke, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Duquette; mother, Wilda Weary; wife, Sandy Duquette; grandson, Robert Duquette; and companion of more than 20 years, Sharon Allen.

He is survived by his sons, James Duquette (Michelle), of Clayton, Georgia, and Robert Duquette, of Loxahatchee, Florida; daughters, Jessica Davis, of Savannah, Georgia, and Mary Busler, of Toledo, Ohio; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and sister, Judi Lunsford, of Jupiter, Florida. BJ had numerous people in his life he considered family: two nieces; one nephew; special friend, Candy Burress; and siblings up north.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the VFW in Okeechobee.
