It is with heavy hearts that we announce that James E. Eagy, Sr., 60, passed away unexpectedly on June 30th, 2024. Born on May 18, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois, James journeyed through life with unwavering patriotism and determination. He was a devoted Husband, proud Father & delighted Grandfather (Papa).
James is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Michelle, their four children; Jessica (Ryan), Misty (James), Nicole (Ben), and James Jr. (Chelsea) as well as 13 grandchildren; Delane, Bailie, Alexis, Divinity, Narrah, Anakin, Avery, Ethan, James III, Catherine, Everly, Olivia, and Grayson.
James is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Esther and his brother Jack Eagy.
James is known for being a dedicated soldier, having retired after 22.5 years in the U.S Army as a Master Driver and inspiring Drill Sgt. During his service he received 5 Army commendation medals, 5 Army achievement medals, meritorious service medal, Southwest Asia service medal with 3 bronze service star, 3 oversea tour service ribbons, Silver German Army marksmanship badge, Air Assault badge, Kuwait liberation medal and was a Golf War veteran. Subsequently, he worked as a corrections officer, police officer, and a postal worker, continuing to demonstrate his dedication to protect and serve his community.
James was passionate about being a "jack of all trades" and generously shared his wealth of knowledge to all of those around him. James led a fulfilling life with the continuous support of his wife and his legacy of loyalty, honor and integrity has left an indelible mark on his family and friends.
Service for James is currently pending and will be announced at a later date.
Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Ave, Manhattan, KS 66502 is assisting the family with arrangements.
