James EAKINS Obituary
It has been a Wonderful Journey that lasted until the passing of our Deeply Loved Husband, Father and Papa, Jim Eakins, who passed peacefully on November 28th, at Travellers Lodge.
Jim leaves to mourn his wife of 63 years, Joan, 5 children, Marty (Barb), Steve (Cheryl), Paul, Nancy (Mike), Kelly, 6 grandchildren Darby (Scott), Sean, Danica, Lauren, Alden and wee Jessie.
Jim served for 4 years as a Flying Officer with the R.C.A.F. during WW2, a Graduate in Dentistry from the University of Oregon in 1950, he practised his Profession for 45 years in Nanaimo. He was a member of the Original Building Committee for the Nanaimo
General Hospital and was instrumental in developing the Dental Department at the Hospital, Jim was a member of Rotary International for many years, a keen member of the Nanaimo Golf Club, Probus and the Coffee Club.
Our Sincere Thanks and Gratitude to the Wonderful, Caring Staff at Travellers Lodge where Kindness and Love comforted Jim in his 'Home away from Home'. No words can express our profound appreciation. A Private Family Celebration was held earlier. A Tea later to Celebrate Jim's Life will be held just as Golf Season Opens.

Donations would be welcome to the New Building Fund at Travellers Lodge, or a Charity of your choice.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Eakins Family. Wonderful memories on Cosgrove Crescent, Rotary Dinners, Grad Breakfast party and many more. Dr. Eakins will be dearly missed.
"Here today, Gone to Maui" I know he loved Hawaii.

So sorry to hear about Dr. Eakins. I have very fond memories, the Christmas open houses, rides to and from CGIT. Dr Eakins always had a smile on his face, and never short of a story to tell. My prayers go out to all of you at this very sad time
