Beloved husband, cherished father and grandfather, loving brother and friend, James Wesley Easley, Jr., better known as "Jim," passed away in New Braunfels, Texas on Friday, November 24, 2023. Jim was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on December 19, 1940 to James Wesley Easley, Sr. and Jackie (Bankston) Easley.
He is preceded in death by his treasured wife, Wanda; his parents; parents-in-law, Willie Porter Lewis and Thelma Lewis Burleson; brother-in-law, John A. Pizzitola; sisters-in-law, Linda Easley and Patricia Lewis; and dear friends, Bailey and Kay Moseley. Jim is survived by his children, Angela Mayeaux, Amy Paige (Scott), Andrea Morris (Patrick), Aaron Easley, and Andy Easley (Ariana); grandchildren, Austin, Selah, Maceo, Brayden, Emilee, Callie, and Josie; sister, Peggy Pizzitola; brother, Robert Easley, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jim graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in Orange, TX, where he and Wanda met and became sweethearts. They were married in 1964 and celebrated 56 years together in 2020. He graduated from pharmacy school at The University of Texas and, together with Wanda, owned and operated Gibson Pharmacy in Marshall, Texas for over 40 years. It was his joy to greet customers by name, chat, and consult with them about health concerns. Alongside his loyal staff, Jim constantly innovated to keep an independent pharmacy thriving, with home health care supplies, nursing home delivery, compounding, and even a soda fountain. Jim suffered a stroke in 2003, recovered and returned to work as a pharmacist until retirement in 2011.
Jim was a member of Cypress Valley Bible Church, where he served as an elder for several years. He put his faith in Jesus for eternal life and was a dedicated follower of Christ. Jim enjoyed attending the men's bible study and hosting the "overcomers" Sunday school class with Wanda. Over the years, they opened their home to host college students, missionaries, friends, and family members. He and Wanda served on the Board of Directors for Choices Adolescent Treatment Center with the goal of ministering to struggling teens. Jim had a fun sense of humor and a generous heart. His memorable smile and kind, reserved presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 1p.m. at Cypress Valley Bible Church with Bob Bryant officiating with a time of visitation to follow. Pallbearers will be Austin Mayeaux, Brayden Easley, Maceo Morris, Stanley Jones, and Douglas Reagan. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Easley, John Kiple, Spencer Anderson, Ally Miller, Dare Westmoreland, Jim Lynch, John Goodding, Steve Patrick, and Russ Perry.
