James Dale Ebert

James Dale Ebert, 90, Lisbon, ND passed away January 13, 2025 at the North Dakota Veteran's Home. A service will be held at the North Dakota Veteran Cemetery in Mandan, ND at a later date.
Jim was born on July 19, 1934 to Emil and Dorothy (Beard) Ebert in Wamego, Kansas, where he attended Wamego Public School.
On October 1, 1952 at age seventeen, Jim joined the US Navy proudly serving in the Korean War until June of 1955. He made four trips to Korea during his service. In April-May of 2022, Jim was able to make the Veterans Honor Flight of ND/MN to Washington DC with his son Carl and was recognized for his military service.
After leaving the Navy, Jim worked various jobs until he found his passion for trucking and drove for many companies as well as being an owner operator. He drove truck until 2007; when at the age of 73 he finally retired. In retirement Jim, Evelyn, and Steve moved to Hettinger.
He was married to Denise Rother and to this union three children were born, Michael, Katherine, and Patricia.
On September 24, 1964, Jim married Evelyn Evenson. To this union three children were born; Steve, Timothy and Carl. In 1969, the family moved to Billings, MT where they started raising their three sons, after which the family moved back to Hettinger, ND in 1975 for the family to be closer to their hometown. Jim went to Alaska to haul pipe for the Alaskan Pipeline. Evelyn joined him in Alaska for a short time. After the Alaskan Pipeline was completed, Jim returned to Hettinger and continued to drive truck out of Billings, MT. Eventually, Evelyn and Steve moved back to Billings to be together. In 2006, they moved back to Hettinger to be closer to their kids and grandkids. Jim enjoyed giving his grandkids rides from school, daycare, and activities. He enjoyed watching old Western shows and Yellowstone. Jim moved to the Veteran's Home in Lisbon in 2017 and lived there until his death.
Surviving family includes sons Tim (Bev) Ebert, Belfield, ND and Carl Ebert, Hettinger, ND; daughters Patricia Meyer, Hettinger, ND and Katherine; sister Carrol Pitney; brother Tom (Fran) Ebert; nephews Jerome (Neoma) Pitney, Russell (Wanda) Pitney and Rodney (Pam) Pitney; grandkids Joslyn Ebert, Logan Ebert, Rachel (Wesly) O'Brien, Hailey (Dalton) Mellmer, Gunnar (Jaclyn) Ebert, Heaven (Jeremiah Baldwin) Ebert, Fynne Ebert, Lauren Ebert, Kit Ebert, Timmy Ebert and Pyper Ebert; and Great Grandkids Bowen, Harlow, Stella, Noah and Blake.
Jim is preceded in death by his father Emil; mother Dorothy; wife Evelyn; father-in-law Arvin Evenson; mother-in-law Virgina Evenson; brother Carl; sons Michael and Steve.
