MR. JAMES JOSEPH EDMONDS was born to the late Thomas Jefferson Edmonds and Viola Harris Edmonds on August 10, 1931, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He answered God's call to eternal rest and peace on Friday, May 16, 2025, at his home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
James grew up in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and attended the Halifax County Public School System. After relocating to Washington, DC, he became employed with the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts industry and retired after many years of dedicated service. He later returned home to North Carolina.
James enjoyed cooking, socializing with family and friends, and playing pranks on his grandchildren.
James was united in marriage to the former Sadie Holiday of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who preceded him in death. He later married the former Pearlie Mae Hawkins of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
In addition to his parents and former wife, James was preceded in death by three sons, Calvin, Charles, and Benjamin Edmonds; his siblings: Queen Esther Johnson, Susie Edmonds, Mary Taylor, Junior Edmonds, Joseph Benjamin Edmonds, and Rufus Edmonds, Sr.
James is survived by his wife, Pearlie Mae Edmonds; two daughters, Alma Edmonds Scott of Philadelphia, PA, and Edith W. Robinson of Littleton, NC; three sons, Raymond Edmonds (Charlotte) of Fuquay Varina, NC, and James and Robert Hawkins of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his sister, Alice Edmonds of California; his sisters-in-law: Yvonne Edmonds of Richmond, VA, Helen Davis (Buster), Ethelene Burgess (Dennis), Lucille Hawkins, and Priscilla Joyner all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Minnie Rice (Jake) of Garysburg, NC; his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Hawkins of Brownmill, NJ, and Sam Hawkins (Vikki), Johnnie Hawkins (Marcella), and Eddie Hawkins all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; thirty grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. funeral service time at Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, NC. Rev. Duane Daniels will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1706 Wayman Church Road, Littleton, NC.

James is my brother n law and he was the nicest man you could meet he always was there to lend a helping hand I´m gonna miss seeing him sitting on the porch when I come out gonna miss seeing him driving past my house most of all we gonna miss him you will always be in our hearts Rest In Peace James we love you
