We are still using your book as an important training manual at work. Sure wish you were here to personally oversee that training.

Still missing you, Jim.
I frequently wish you were still here - to inspire some of my newer staff about chisels on wheels..., but mostly I just wish you were still here to make life richer for all of us.

Jim, you'll be missed by many.
See you again some day at an industry reunion on the other side?
Until then, Auf Wiedersehen!

A competitor (Leitz), a customer (Steelcase), a business partner (S3, inc.), but most importantly a friend. See ya on the flip side buddy.

With deepest sympathies.
I will always miss you Jim, at every show and every reception.
You were unique and marevellous human being, and I am richer for having met you.
Until we meet again,

I have a particularly cherished memory of Jim giving this wonderful, informative talk at IWF in Atlanta one year, and suddenly, with an impish grin, well...., Effner's talking about epistemology! For anyone who doesn't know, epistemology is the totally ivory-tower branch of philosophy that deals with the limits on just what is knowable. Relevant just now, because, maybe it hasn't really sunk in yet, and all your friends are wondering where you are, Jim. But I can tell you one place you are: you will outlast us all in the collective consciousness of the entire woodworking industry.
