James 'Jim' Dale Elam, 64, of Milton, Florida passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Jim was a native of Goshen, Ohio and the first born to Dee Garrett and the late Jack Elam. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1979. He married his better half, Brenda (Fowler) on May 26, 1984, in Loveland, Ohio. After enjoying a few years of married life, they decided to expand their family and welcomed the light of their lives, Chandin, in 1989. Jim drove an over the road semi-truck for most of his adult life. He enjoyed racing dirt track cars, finding new dirt tracks to watch, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Harold.
Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Brenda Elam of Milton, FL; a daughter, Chandin (Adam) Whitten, of Navarre, FL; three amazing grandchildren (the true lights of his life), Bella, Macy, and Dalton Whitten; mom, Dee (Bill) Garrett of Goshen, OH; brothers, Ronnie (Lou) Elam and Steve Elam, both of Goshen, OH; niece, Stephani (Gary) Lykins of Blanchester, OH; nephew, Branden (Tiffany) Elam of Blanchester, OH; and multiple great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and aides at Emerald Coast Hospice for the love and care given during the last few days of Jim's life.
The family requests memorial donations may be made, in Jim's name, to Bear Family Foundation Health Center, 125 Baptist Way, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel, 6405 Highway 90 W, Milton, Florida 32570 with visitation from 12:00-1:00pm and service at 1:00pm. Interment at Harold Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
