Leslie Jean Dauman - Gone but Never Quietly
Leslie Jean Dauman, 66, took her final drag before heading off to the Great Beyond on October 31, 2025, in Milton, Florida. Leslie was born April 24, 1959, in Sumpter, South Carolina. Leslie lived her life exactly how she wanted-rules, responsibilities, and reason be damned.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Dale and Donna Dauman.
She left behind four daughters she didn't raise but somehow still managed to gift with her stubbornness, sass, and dark humor: Tessa Rae McBride (Travis), Tammy Lynn Rodkey, Taylor Leeann Lemus and Torey Jene Smith.
They survived her, thrived without her, and inherited a colorful collection of her life lessons (most of which came in the form of what not to do). Leslie was a woman of many husbands, even more opinions, and an unshakable relationship with her cigarettes and alcohol, so much so that she attempted to escape her nursing homes more than once. Her social life peaked at the nursing home, where she managed to charm most and choke at least one. She loved animals more than humans and she absolutely adored and wanted to keep every animal she encountered.
She also leaves behind her 12 beloved grandchildren (Tyler Heryford, Jacub Reynolds, Connor Waymire, Isaac Rodkey, Cameron Waymire, Kiana Hernandez, Hazel Coronado, Whyatt Smith, Avery Burnett, Casey Futrell, Dominick Lemus and Memphis Arriola and one great-granddaughter Evelyn Grace Waymire. Some who never met her and a few who will remember her as the wild one who made an impression, for better or worse.
She also left behind her brother Kelly Dauman and sister Julie VandeWeerd. Leslie's final wishes were probably ignored, but in her honor, raise a glass, light a cigarette, and tell someone off-because that's exactly what she would have done. Rest in peace, Leslie. Or don't. We know you never liked being told what to do anyway.
