Rev. James "Jim" Carroll Ensor, age 74, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on June 14, 2025. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on July 31, 1950, to the late Walter Kendall Ensor and Ethel Catherine (Burns) Ensor. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, and Popaw. He worked for 20 years as a pastor in various churches including Guston Baptist Church, in Guston, Kentucky and First Baptist Church in Honaker, Virginia. While in Virginia Jim started a program to provide food to families and children that were less fortunate. He also developed Splash Ministry to provide meals, recreation, and bible stories to children and their families. Jim was a current member at Parkland Baptist Church. He loved the Green Bay Packers, and the Kentucky Wildcats, as well as collecting guns and rifles, and spending time with his family. Jim will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Walter "Bud" Ensor, sister Dora Ann Marquess and half-sister Edna Baete.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Judy Ensor whom he lovingly referred to as his Sweet Pea. He is also survived by his sons Duane Ensor (Beth), Barry Ensor (Leanne), daughter Amy Drake (Jonathan), 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews and other dear family and friends.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 3 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
