In Loving Memory of James A. Fike (1932-2025)
James A. Fike, age 92, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children on June 12, 2025. Jim was born in Ralph, Pennsylvania, on October 6, 1932, but spent most of his early years in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, where he met and married Rosemary Freed Fike who remains his loving wife of nearly 70 years.
Jim is survived by his wife Rosemary, four loving children, Cindy Simmons (Jacob), Melanie Beauchamp (Bruce), Christopher, and Scott; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his sister Alberta Caton; and his daughter in law Stephanie. He was predeceased by his son James (Randy) Fike, and daughter Pamela Fike.
Jim lived a full and meaningful life grounded in family, hard work, and dedication to raising his six children. Jim served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, then went to work at Giant Food, Inc., in Jessup, Maryland, and retired in 1992 after serving in various managerial positions. Jim was known at Giant Food, Inc., for his stellar work ethic, receiving many commendations, awards, plaques, and letters of appreciation during his tenure. After his retirement, he began a new career with the Laurel Highlands School District in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, spending 8 years as a school security officer. Jim loved and was loved by all of the students and faculty at Hutchinson School and Hatfield School.
Jim enjoyed many hobbies which included woodworking, driving his 1931 Model A classic car in parades and car shows, creating inventions, motorcycling, boating, fishing, camping, ice skating, and landscaping, just to name a few. But, most of all he will be remembered for his loving nature, sense of humor, and being ornery and making people laugh. We will miss his smile and beautiful blue eyes that will shine on in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Jim's family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the AdventHealth Stuart F. Meyer Hospice Inpatient Center in Palm Coast, Florida, and Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service also in Palm Coast, Florida.
