James Arthur Fiocchi "Jim"

James Arthur Fiocchi "Jim" died January 10, 2009, in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He was born November 22, 1922, in Vineland, New Jersey, the son of the late Joseph R. Fiocchi and Emily Amadei Fiocchi. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard J. Fiocchi; his sister, Adeline Fiocchi; and a brother, Augie Fiocchi.

Mr. Fiocchi is survived by his companion and care giver, Charlotte P. Brock; his son's wife, Tammy; granddaughters, Twyla and Celesie of Pennsylvania; his sister, Rita Cecro and her husband, Tony, of New Jersey; his brother, Joseph Fiocchi and his wife, Elaine, of Pennsylvania; his sister-in-law, Lynne Fiocchi of Pennsylvania; a host of nieces and nephews; and his devoted cat, Ramsey.

Mr. Fiocchi was a World War II veteran. He was with the 294th Joint Assault Signal Co. and was in the first wave on Omaha Beach in 1944.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at the Riverview Cemetery, with the Reverend David Stoddart and the Reverend Mary Staley officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hollymead Rescue Squad.

Hill and Wood Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
