James Martin Fleming, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Jamey was born in Wichita, KS on January 18, 1994, to Diane and Tomas Fleming, with older brothers Timothy and Joshua waiting at home. (His delivery occasioned his doctor to break into the theme from the old TV show "My Three Sons.")
Jamey grew up adoring his older brothers, trying to emulate them at every new stage of life, even to the point of requesting glasses like his brothers, and a cast when Timothy broke his arm! It was in baseball and soccer that he started to create his unique path, beginning in his elementary school years through graduation at Wichita Heights High School. Not to be outdone on the musical side, Jamey began violin in Fourth Grade and became quite a fine player. Two broken wrists brought a halt to both interests for a while.
After graduation, Jamey worked at a number of different venues, discovering a love of cooking, and eventually turning his sights on a technical career path. We were all very proud of his dedication to pursue and achieve a degree from the Wichita Technical Institute in HVAC. He began working for Carr's Plumbing and Maintenance, where he developed his skill and became an HVAC Foreman. He relished a job well done, and took pains to work every job to the best of his ability. Recently, he had begun a "side hustle" of yardwork and landscaping. He loved being outside and being his own boss.
Throughout his adult life, Jamey struggled with alcoholism and addiction. For a period of years, that struggle seemed to define his life. Over three years ago, he regained his sobriety, working the program, and redirecting his path. He became a leader at meetings, and a source of immense pride for his family. A return to alcohol recently was a choice he was beginning to come to grips with before his death. We know he is now disease free, his "chains" are gone, and his earthly struggle is over. And, oh, how we miss him.
Jamey is survived by his parents, Tom and Diane; brother Timothy and wife Victoria; brother Joshua; sister Katherine Conrad and husband Thomas; nieces and nephews Liam, Mackenzie, Aiden, and Emma; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Calvary United Methodist Church.

we were neighbors with you guys, I really do treasure the memories of the sword games.

Thinking back, Jamey always seemed the natural leader of our group - even though we were young, he always had such a (to me) mature sense of wisdom and humor even out of all my friends. I remember the broken wrists hahaha. Honestly, Jamey taught me a lot about humans with his wit and kindness.

Jamey was respectful and kind to me, and to his parents, and to everyone, I think. and that's not something I understood to be such a treasure until nearly 20 years later.

HVAC is money!!! LET'S GOOO! Jamey I'm super proud of you. Sorry we lost contact over the last few years, I'm glad you did good. I wish you had more time
