James Fletcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Taylor Family Funeral Home - Pinellas Park on Mar. 5, 2026.
James William Fletcher, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 15, 2026.

Born on March 26, 1957, in West Palm Beach, he grew into a hardworking and determined man who spent most of his life in construction. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany.

Over the years he built a career in home and business remodeling and eventually opened his own remodeling company. Never one to stop pushing himself, he returned to school in his mid-50s to become a licensed electrician.

With piercing blue eyes and an unforgettable smile, he was the life of the party and someone people were naturally drawn to. He formed friendships that lasted a lifetime - loyal friends who became family and stood by him through the years.

He loved the outdoors, music, and any adventure that involved engines and open air - camping, mudding, boating, four-wheeling, dirt bikes, motorcycles, jet skis, and cruising whenever he could.

Above everything, James loved his family fiercely. He always reminded his children to stay close because "family is everything." One of his most cherished phrases - spoken daily from their childhood through his final days - was, "Did I tell you I loved you today?"

He is survived by his children, in birth order: Matthew Whelan (Michelle), Alysia Fletcher (Jacqueline), Jessica Fletcher, and Brandon Fletcher.

He was a proud grandfather to James III, Drew, Jordan, Nissim, Wesley, Ayden, and Kehlani, and a loving great-grandfather to Koa and Cruse.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Fletcher II.

James worked hard, but he lived even harder.
