James Florka Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel - New Baltimore on Aug. 23, 2024.
James (Jim) Albert Florka, age 77, of Chesterfield, MI, passed away on August 22, 2024. Born on June 3, 1947, Jim lived a life full of love, passion, and dedication to his family and community.
A devoted husband to Janet, loving father of Jennifer (Kevin) and Christopher (Jill), and proud grandfather of eight, Bruce, Emma, Madison, Maximus, Delaney, Evy, Luke, and Lana. Jim was a man whose greatest joy was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, always putting family first.
Jim had a lifelong passion for classic cars, with a special fondness for the iconic 1957 Chevy Bel Air. He spent countless hours working on and admiring these beautiful machines, sharing his enthusiasm with anyone who would listen. He was a proud member of the Tri-five Chevy Club and enjoyed many years of Car Shows with them, including The Woodward Cruise.
His love for sports was evident in his years of coaching baseball and playing in a local softball league. We have fond memories of many years of the Port Hope Softball Tournament. He had a natural talent for mentoring young athletes, helping them develop both their skills and character on and off the field.
Professionally, Jim dedicated his career to improving the infrastructure of Macomb County. He worked tirelessly for the Macomb County Road Commission and AEW as a road construction engineer, contributing to the development and maintenance of roads that countless residents rely on daily.
But above all, Jim was a man of kindness, integrity, and unwavering loyalty. His love for his dogs was a testament to his caring nature, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 3-8pm at the Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel located at 35259-23 Mile Road in New Baltimore and Thursday, August 29th at 10am for a Chapel Service and Burial at St. Peter's Cemetery located at 43755 Elizabeth Road in Clinton Township.
