James Edward "Jim" Flummerfelt, 84, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center. He was born on July 6, 1941 in Liberal to Ross Edward and Margaret Irene (Kistner) Flummerfelt.

Jim graduated from Hugoton High School in 1959. He went on to earn his Specialist Degree from Fort Hays State University in 1965. On June 8, 1963, he married Judy (Gracey) in Hugoton. Together they had two daughters, Jill and Joni. As a teacher he wore many hats, from teaching Elementary PE and Science, to many of the industrial arts, such as woodworking, welding and auto mechanics in Jamestown, Wichita and Pratt. He later owned his own business as a carpenter and building contractor and did this for many years in Pratt. He was a member of Pratt Gun Club, Elk Foundation, and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Sue Jones of Pratt; daughters, Jill Flummerfelt of Fort Knox, Kentucky and Joni (Shaun) Hill of Ft. Worth, Texas; children's mother, Judy Gerstner of Lenexa; sister, Mary Cochran of Prineville, Oregon; granddaughter, Camden Hill of Ft. Worth; and grandson, Christian Hill of Ft. Worth.

James is preceded in death by his parents and brother in-law, Marvin Cochran.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Inurnment will follow at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to South Central Community Foundation.
