James Edgar Ford, aged 68, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, enroute to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center located in Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina. He was a loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and dear friend to many. Born in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, James Edgar Ford lived his life with endurance and strength, but filled with love, laughter, and kindness. He was known for his warm smile, contagious laugh, and his unwavering generosity. James Edgar Ford served his country in the United States Army for twenty years where he was respected for his hard work and dedication. In his free time, James Edgar Ford found solace and joy in the simple moments spent with his family. His faith held strong, and he never missed a walk with the Lord. James Edgar Ford, who is also known as Dad, Pops, Pop Pop, and Heavy, will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Marion Schrade Ford, his baby girls and their husbands: Bianca Corinne Auton (Boo) and James Robert Auton; Patrice Lynnette Grimsley (Pookie) and Kevin Grimsley, his grandkids: Baylee Lalei Auton-Ford, Morgan Rhianne Auton, James Sawyer Auton, Lily Simone Auton, Elias Armand Grimsley, and Tyson Everett Grimsley, extended family, and his brother/best friend, Emanuel Green. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for his kindness, compassion, at times difficult, but gentle spirit. In keeping with James and his immediate family’s wishes, there will be no public service. Though he was a private person, he was an important part of all of our lives and his loss is deeply felt.
