James Foster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Berge Pappas Smith Chapel of Angels Funerals & Cremation - Fremont on Dec. 29, 2025.
James P. Foster, age 74, passed away on December 15, 2025 in Fremont, CA surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1951 in San Luis Obispo, CA to Norman and Elizabeth Foster.

James attended John Hancock Jr. College and became a production operator and line lead. He met and married the love of his Carolyn Foster and raised 4 children. He was an influential leader in local Troop 120 and believed in mentoring future

leaders of our community. He enjoyed yearly Deer Hunting Trips, which ended in wildlife photography rather than hunting. As a youth, Jim reached the honorable status of Star Scout in BSA. As an adult, he received many recognitions from BSA leaders in the Bay Area for his local accomplishments and dedication of leadership

James family looked up to Jim in so many ways. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Simple gestures from Jim made us feel like we were the most important people in the world. Whether love came from a phone call, words of wisdom, a yummy meal at one of his favorite spots, or a warm embrace, we knew his love was unconditional.

Our memories are too numerous to count. Each one embodies who Jim was. Love poured from every action he took. There were many smiles and sounds of laughter emanated over the years. Something as simple as watching an old Western to the sparkle in his eyes when he looked at his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. These are the memories that will live on forever.

He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Foster; His daughters, Sabena (Lindsey) Griffin, Elizabeth (Foster) Scott; His son, Clifton (Peine) Bayes-Peine, Step-mother, Eleanor Foster; Sisters, Margaret A (Foster) Schmidt, Teresa S (Foster) Hope , Mary E (Foster) Weipert; Brother, Michael Foster; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his Son, James Foster; Parents, Norman Foster and Elizabeth Foster and grandparents, Charles Foster, Florence Foster, Paul Brennan and Teresa Brennan.
