On March 9th, 2024, James Melvin Franz passed peacefully with his family surrounding him.
One of his proudest achievements was his family, beloved husband to Marie Ann Franz (Mundorf), father to Christine Simpkins (Douglas), Lorraine Parson (Allen), Regina Campbell (Curtis), Jennifer Franz, Bernadette Lander (Donald), Martin Franz and the late Daniel Franz (Tina). Devoted son of Melvin and Mary Louise (Trimp) Franz. Grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also survived by many relatives and friends.
A graduate from St. Josephs Monastery in 1947 and Mt. Saint Joseph’s High in 1951 where he was MSA Champion (soccer) and team captain and also record holder in Discus and Shot Put.
The family will receive visitors at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd. Arbutus on Tuesday, March 12th from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Monastery, 3801 Old Frederick R. Baltimore on Wednesday, March, 13th at 11am. Family and friends are invited back to Matthew 1600, 1600 Frederick Rd. Catonsville after the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to Mt St. Joseph’s High School, 4403 Frederick Ave, Balto. MD 21229
