James Alan Freese (Jim), a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather, as well as a cherished community member, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, in Peoria, Arizona. He was born on June 28, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois.

Jim served his country honorably as a Specialist in the Central Intelligence Corps of the Army. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career at US Steel, where he ultimately retired as the Supervisor of the Bar and Plate Mills after an impressive 30 years. Known for his remarkable work ethic, Jim took so few sick days during his tenure that they could be counted on one hand, and he never allowed a snowstorm to impede his commitment to work.

An alumnus of the University of New Mexico, Jim was not only dedicated to his career but also to his family and community. Together with his beloved wife, Jeanne Freese, he led a life rich in experiences and joy, entertaining family, friends, and colleagues with warmth and generosity. Jim had a passion for boating and enjoyed teaching countless individuals how to water ski alongside Jeanne. He cherished their many travels together to beautiful destinations around the globe, creating memories that will be held dearly by those he leaves behind.

Jim was known for his hearty laugh, sense of humor, and quick wit. He demonstrated an innate generosity, often going out of his way to assist family and friends. He was particularly proud of his love for cars, always ensuring they were maintained in immaculate condition. In retirement, Jim thrived in Sun City, Arizona, where the warm climate provided him with a newfound appreciation for life after many years spent in the Midwest.

Alongside his many pursuits, Jim found fulfillment in giving back, volunteering countless hours at local hospitals, soup kitchens, and through his church. A devoted member of the Catholic Church, he and Jeanne served as Eucharistic Ministers and took great pride in helping transport individuals to and from mass.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne Freese; son Jeffrey Freese (Marlene Franke) of Texas; son Robert Freese (Mary) of New Jersey, and grandchildren Haley, Sydney, and Jack Freese. He is also remembered fondly by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Stella (Reger) Freese, and siblings Jack, Jean Siekkotter, and Judy Glynn.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Sierra Winds and Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care during his final days. Jim will be deeply missed but will forever be remembered for his unwavering spirit, generous heart, and the love he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
