James Dwight Gann, age 72, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Known to many simply as "Dwight," he dedicated 41 years of his life as a skilled furniture builder with La-Z-Boy, where his work ethic and craftsmanship left a lasting legacy. A true car enthusiast, Dwight had a deep love for all things racing and was a devoted NASCAR fan. He also found great joy in being on the water and especially loved to fish.

Dwight was born on January 21, 1953, to the late Calvin James Gann and Virginia Joe Smith Gann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jimmie Stott, Shirley Elliott, and Ricky Gann.

He is survived by his daughter, Brandy (James) Murphy, and their children, Abby, Avery, and Noah. He is also survived by his siblings, Martha (Gary) Gray, Donnie (Vanessa) Gann, and Kathy (Randy) Payne, and Linda Gann as well as a circle of special friends who meant so much to him.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Martha and Gary, along with Dwight's treasured group of friends, for their loving care and support during this time.

In keeping with Dwight's wishes, no services will be held.
