James Burkett Gardner, 77 of Kenly, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024. A graveside service with Military Rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024, in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
James graduated from Lucama High School. He was a collector of many things, especially vintage and antique treasures. James always looked forward to “Fire Night” at his son’s home. He loved fishing, his family and grandchildren. James will be remembered as a fun-loving person that will be missed and thought of often.
James is survived by his son, Steven Gardner and wife, Dolly; grandchildren, Dylan Gardner, Tanner Gardner, and Abby Gardner; brother, Wayne Gardner and wife, Audrey; sister, Emily Davis and husband, Steve and his special companion, Little Luke, his dog.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Gardner, parents, Richard and Eula Gardner, and his sister, Janie Gardner.
