James Gardner, Sr. Obituary

James Robert Gardner, Sr., 68, loving husband of Deborah "Debbie" Duncan Gardner, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2025. Born in Greenville, SC, on August 22,1957, he was a son of the late Winford Gardner and the late Betty Murphy Gardner.

James worked as a machinist and was of the Baptist faith.

James proudly served his country as a Marine. His commitment and discipline shaped him into the devoted family man he became as a beloved father and grandfather. He truly treasured his role as a "proud Papa" to his grandchildren, finding immeasurable joy in their laughter and achievements.

James had a wonderful knack for creating lasting memories with his loved ones. He found simple pleasures in life's little things, whether it was sharing a refreshing Coca-Cola or indulging in peanut butter M&M's, which never failed to bring a smile to his face. An aficionado of classic television, he spent many evenings relishing the iconic Western shows like "Gunsmoke," often lost in the tales of heroism and adventure, and enjoying shows on TV Land.

In addition to his wife of 36 years, he is survived by seven daughters, Stacey Smith (Calvin), Brandy Jones (Justin), Tabitha Mills (Chris), Hannah Gardner, Kassidy Turner (Luke), Melody Gardner (Caleb) and Tiffany Eckerd; three sons, James Robert Gardner, Jr. (Mary-Kait), Matthew Aaron Gardner (Ruthie) and Barry "Ezra" Gardner; twenty-five grandchildren; brother, Barry Gardner and a fur baby, Patches.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. James' funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Easley, SC.
