Nancy Whitlock Lyday, 83, of Easley, South Carolina, wife of the late Robert Earl Lyday, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
Born on March 22, 1942, in Anderson County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Lee Roy and Matty Harris Whitlock. Nancy devoted her life to nurturing those she held dear, embodying a spirit that was as warm as her famous Pineapple Cake. Throughout her career, she worked diligently for the Parker Plant in Greenville, South Carolina, a testament to her unwavering work ethic and tenacity. However, it is her role as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother that truly defined her existence. Nancy was a pillar of strength, imparting love and wisdom to generations, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. A devoted member of the Living Sanctuary Church, Nancy found solace and joy in her faith, which guided her through the trials of life. Her deep-rooted love for her family was rivaled only by her passion for cooking and baking. She brought joy to many with her delicious creations, and her Pineapple Cake became a cherished favorite, symbolizing the warmth and sweetness she infused into every gathering. Nancy's generosity of spirit and tenderness have left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Her legacy, woven into the very fabric of her family's history, will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her. In the embrace of her family,
Nancy is survived by three sons, Tommy Bowen, James Bowen (Laurie), and Donnie Bowen (Jennifer); fourteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by three daughters, Grace Lyday, Rita Faye Rowland, and Wanda Sue Alexander; six brothers; and five sisters.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Living Sanctuary Church, 201 Piedmont Road, Piedmont, South Carolina 29642.
